The main task of the Dnipro State Medical University is not only the training of qualified specialists, but also the education of healthy, physically developed, mentally stable, strong in spirit and healthy doctors. Sports and social work are a big part of this.

The university has created and maintains appropriate conditions to promote student volunteer initiatives, environmental education, the establishment of a healthy lifestyle, the effective operation of student government organizations.

The sports base of DSMU includes a modern sports complex, which consists of four halls. There are physical education classes, fitness groups, sports sections. Built a 25-meter outdoor pool, there is a tennis court and an outdoor area for athletics, fitness, volleyball, football, badminton.

Every year in the Orel region (Novomoskovsk district) there is a health and sports camp "Health", which is located near the river Samara. It is designed for 210 seats. Every year, about 450 students, staff, teachers and their families recover there.

The university has 12 different sports sections: athletics, volleyball, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, dancing, weightlifting, wrestling (sambo) and more. Engaged in more than 300 students. Every year more than 1,400 students and staff take part in numerous sporting events (about 30 events a year), which are held at the State Medical University. Galina Romanova's student sports competitions, freshmen's cups, dormitory tournaments, Professor Popkova's employee competitions and other games are becoming traditional. The World Health Day hosts the Sports and Music Festival "Medical Students for a Healthy Lifestyle".

With the participation of foreign students, the Council of Fellowships of Foreign Students was established, which unites 7 associations of citizens of India, Morocco, Israel, Tunisia, Syria and other countries in the East and Africa.

Every student of the University can improve their abilities, or learn vocal art, art reading, dance in the Student Club. The University annually hosts public and cultural events, such as: "Student Spring", International Festival of Creative Youth "ZIRKA", celebration of "Ukrainian Language Day", "Charitable Festival of National Cuisine", "International Yoga Day", "Independence Day" where foreign students study, the Diwali fire festival and many others.
